Install your EddyTrip eSIM on any compatible iPhone or Android device using a QR code or manual setup. No physical SIM card needed.

Before you begin

Three things you'll need

Make sure you have these ready before starting your eSIM installation.

eSIM compatible phone

Your device must support eSIM technology. Most phones from 2018 onwards are compatible.

Network unlocked

Your phone must be unlocked — not locked to a specific carrier or network provider.

Stable Wi-Fi connection

A reliable Wi-Fi connection is recommended during the eSIM download and installation process.

Your eSIM QR code

Have your QR code ready — either printed or displayed on a second device.

Installing via QR code is the easiest and fastest method. Manual entry is available as a fallback if scanning isn't possible.

iOS / iPhone

Install eSIM on iPhone

Works on iPhone XS and later running iOS 12.1 or above. The QR code method takes under 5 minutes.

Open Mobile Data settings

Go to Settings → Mobile Data. Scroll down and tap "Add eSIM" highlighted in blue.

Choose "Use QR Code"

The "Set Up Mobile Service" screen appears. Tap "Use QR Code" to proceed with scanning.

Scan your QR code

Point your camera at the QR code from your EddyTrip email. If prompted, enter the 4-digit confirmation code.

Display the QR code on another device or print it out — you can't scan it on the same phone you're setting up.

Label and configure your eSIM

Give your eSIM a label (e.g. "Travel Data") and select "Cellular data only" under the Default Line page. Your eSIM will appear under Mobile Data.

Once installed, you'll see your eSIM listed under Settings → Mobile Data. Activate it when you arrive at your destination.

Android

Install eSIM on Android

Compatible with most Android phones from 2019 onwards. Steps may vary slightly by manufacturer, but the core flow is the same.

Open Network & Internet settings

Go to Settings → Network & Internet → tap SIMs.

Tap the + icon next to SIMs

On the SIMs screen, tap the "+" icon to the right of "SIMs" to add a new SIM.

Select "Download a SIM instead?"

On the "Connect to mobile network" screen, tap "Download a SIM instead?" at the bottom of the screen.

Download your SIM — tap Next

The "Download your SIM" screen appears. Tap Next. Your device will check network info.

Scan the QR code

A scanning box appears. Point it at your eSIM QR code — either printed or on a second device. Keep the code within the frame.

Make sure the QR code is well-lit and fully inside the scanning frame for the fastest scan.

Wait for the download to complete

Your device will download the eSIM data. This typically takes 1–3 minutes. Don't close the app.

"Download Finished" — go to Settings

Once you see "Download Finished", tap Settings to configure and activate your new eSIM.

Enable the Data eSIM

In the Data eSIM settings, toggle "Use SIM" on. Confirm on the "Turn on Data eSIM?" prompt and your device will switch over.

You'll see "Switching to Data eSIM" briefly — once done, your eSIM is active and ready to use.

Alternative method

Manual setup (iOS)

Can't scan the QR code? Enter your eSIM details manually on iPhone using the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your EddyTrip email.

Go to Settings → Mobile Data → Add eSIM

Navigate to Settings → Mobile Data and tap "Add eSIM".

Choose "Use QR Code", then tap "Enter Details Manually"

On the QR scanner screen, instead of scanning, tap "Enter Details Manually" at the bottom.

Enter your activation details

Fill in the SM-DP+ Address, Activation Code, and Confirmation Code (if provided) from your EddyTrip email.

Find these details in the email sent to you after purchase. Copy-paste to avoid typos.

Label your eSIM and finish setup

Give your eSIM a label, select "Cellular data only" as the default line, and complete the setup. Your eSIM will appear under Mobile Data.
